You may think you've walked into a Mob cliché come to life, but what you've actually stepped into is the cousin of nationally famous Rao's in New York. The same family recipes wow customers here: The as-close-to-perfect-as-you-can-get marinara sauce, the veal chop stuffed with prosciutto, the chicken scarpariello with sausages and peppers, the unimpeachable white clam sauce. Even soups and antipastos exhibit terrific quality — try fresh, crumbly provolone — topped with warm, stewed strawberries is as irresistible as the Frank Sinatra booming from the jukebox. But be prepared to make reservations well in advance; if anything will get you through the door, it's connections to regular customers, not social clout.
