The old Armadillo, long-running local favorite, has retired to the beach in Dania, setting up in a cozy couple of rooms where chef Kevin McCarthy can show off his classic dishes and spin new improvisations on global cuisine. ’Dillo classics like tequila grilled shrimp over corn cakes, black and white soup, local yellowtail snapper, and of course those marvelous chocolate fritters are still on the dinner menu (dinner served Thursday through Saturday only); you’ll also find exotic fish, lamb ribs, duck breast, and imaginative nightly specials prepared with McCarthy’s usual flair. Also open for lunch daily, serving Kobe burgers and gourmet chicken salad. We should all have a neighborhood joint this terrific.
